As Canadian Blood Services (CBS) board of directors gather in Ottawa on Thursday, December 1, they will be met by people saying, “Canadian veins are not for profit!”

Join a workers’ picket against privatizing plasma collection outside the CBS office in Ottawa (1800 Alta Vista Dr.) on December 1 from 8am to 11am.

The picket, organized by OPSEU and supported by the Canadian Health Coalition, Bloodwatch.org, NUPGE, CUPE and other unions and public health care advocates, is against CBS inking a 15-year deal with the multinational company Grifols to buy and sell plasma in Canada, threatening the sustainability and safety of Canada’s voluntary blood collection.

Other pickets against paid-plasma happening on Dec. 1 –

In Edmonton, AB, join Friends of Medicare outside the CBS office at 8249 114 St NW on Dec. 1 at 12 noon MST.

In Dartmouth, NS, join the Nova Scotia Health Coalition at the Canadian Blood Services Product Distribution Centre at 270 John Savage Ave. on Dec. 1 at 12 noon Atlantic time.

Amplify our calls to stop private plasma collection in Canada.
