Canadian Federation of Students joins Health Coalition
The Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) has joined the Canadian Health Coalition. The CFS represents more than 530,000 post-secondary students in Canada.
CFS Chairperson Marie Dolcetti-Koros says its members support the goals of the Canadian Health Coalition in its vital efforts to defend and expand Canada’s national public health care system.
“Students believe that the work of the Canadian Health Coalition can help advance the Federation’s campaigns and advocacy around universal healthcare for international students, national pharmacare and on-campus mental health support,” she wrote in a letter to CHC Chairperson Pauline Worsfold, RN.
The CFS will be represented by Riaz Nandan, National Treasurer. He is a former president of the York Federation of Students (YFS) at York University.
Riaz Nandan is the National Treasurer of the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS), and will join the Canadian Health Coalition Board of Directors
“I am delighted the CFS has chosen the Canadian Health Coalition. I’m certain the federation will supercharge our mutual efforts to defend and expand public health care,” said Worsfold, welcoming the decision by the CFS.
The Canadian Health Coalition continues to expand its membership, with the CFS joining SEIU Canada as new member organizations in 2022.
