Massive Lobby for a National Public Drug Plan on Parliament Hill during National Medicare Week
Ottawa, ON– 125 public health care advocates from across Canada will meet with over 100 MPs tomorrow to call for the creation of a National Public Drug Plan.
WHAT: A lobby on Parliament Hill of 125 advocates and over 100 Members of Parliament to call for a National Public Drug Plan
WHEN: All day on Tuesday, January 31st, 2017
WHERE: Parliament Hill, Ottawa, ON
WHO: The Canadian Health Coalition, a national public health care advocacy organization
WHY: Canada remains the only country in the world with a universal health care system that doesn’t cover prescription medication. Our current system leaves 1 in 10 Canadians unable to fill their prescription because the cost is prohibitive. It leaves a patchwork system of coverage where medicine accessibility and affordability varies across the country. A National Public Drug Plan would solve these issues and others. It would ensure everyone can access the medicines they need while saving Canadians $11 billion a year.
